Alex playing Moog Sub37 in studio

Alex Bertola is a composer, orchestrator, and arranger. Born in Paris, he grew up in a culturally and musically rich environment that nurtured his artistic talents from an early age. Alex began piano lessons at the age of 5, receiving both classical and jazz training, and started playing electric guitar at 12, delving into rock, hard rock, and metal techniques. While his love for music was evident, it was his passion for cinema that ultimately guided him towards a career as a film composer.

His improvisations on the guitar sparked his passion for composition, starting out by writing for piano and guitar before expanding his work to include symphony orchestra arrangements. As a self-taught musician, he acquired essential skills in composition, orchestration, and music production. At 19, Alex was commissioned by a producer to score several documentaries aired on national French television and international channels. His ability to adapt to the unique methods of various directors, coupled with his sensitivity to visuals and proficiency with cinematic techniques, allowed him to engage constructively with each project. Notably, he scored a retrospective on Bruce Willis' career, creating a soundtrack inspired by the actor's films and the atmosphere of the four decades of his career.

Building on these professional experiences, Alex decided to further his studies at Berklee College of Music. He works in the studio weekly, records his music with orchestras of various sizes, and collaborates with musicians and sound engineers. He holds a Bachelor's Degree and has received the Georges Delerue Merit Award, the most prestigious prize in Berklee College of Music's Film and Media Scoring department.

In addition to his love for classical music, influenced by great composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Mahler, and Tchaikovsky, Alex has an eclectic musical background spanning jazz, rock, pop, and world music. He also draws inspiration from renowned film composers like John Williams, Alan Silvestri, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone, and John Powell. His music combines classical and modern influences to create a unique emotional signature.
